826 National receives the Jim Henson Community Honor

Today, the Jim Henson Company announced the recipients of its fifth annual Jim Henson honors. 826 National is thrilled to be presented with a 2010 Jim Henson Community Honor award, and we’re proud to be in such fantastic company. Other winners this year include: Steve Jobs, Apple CEO; Neill Blomkamp, director; and YouTube Symphony Orchestra, the world’s first collaborative orchestra.

According to the Jim Henson Company and CEO Lisa Henson:
"With project-based programs that include the creation of newspapers, books and films, 826 National encourages collaboration, creative decision making, and ownership in the learning process. Said Henson, 'We were so excited to learn about the incredible work of 826 National and the thousands of volunteers who are dedicated to providing personalized instruction and inspiration to future authors, playwrights and screenwriters.'"
