826 National celebrates National Volunteer Week

April 15-21 is National Volunteer Week and, with over 6,000 volunteers, 826 has a lot to be thankful for. Volunteers keep the 826 ship (or pirate ship, in 826 Valencia’s case) afloat, providing individualized attention to the 29,000+ students we serve every year. Thank you 826 volunteers, we appreciate each and every one of you!

Want to get involved? You’ll be making a huge difference. Research shows that “Students who work with volunteer tutors are likely to earn higher scores on assessments related to letters and words, oral fluency, and writing compared to their peers who were not tutored” (Kennelly and Monrad, 2009).
