826 National wins Experience Stager of the Year award

Strategic Horizons has awarded the Experience Stager of the Year award to 826 National. 826 was chosen for our chapters' blended creative retail storefronts and learning centers.

The 826 model came from the early days of our founding center, 826 Valencia. Because the space on 826 Valencia Street in San Francisco was zoned for retail, 826 Valencia's founders chose to transform the front of the center into a pirate supply store. This decision was a fruitful one, and each new 826 chapter has a unique storefront that also serves as a community gateway, an inspiring space for kids, and a showcase for the writing our students produce every day. 826 National CEO Gerald Richards explains that "it's great to be recognized for our model which has made us a leader in creating an experience, bringing in young people and adults, and getting young people really excited about learning."

The Experience Stager of the Year award marks the recognition of ten years of providing unique and fun memories for those who visit 826 storefronts. Thank you, Strategic Horizons, for honoring 826 National!
