A Song of Homecoming

Sarah is a student at 826CHI.
Stars gaze down on the water;
blue,
as the bright lights
and towering buildings sing
a song of homecoming.
For today is the day
that we go back to what we remember
It is the day we
return to-
the pigeon man,
mulberry summers
and epic water fights.
We'll return to funnel cake in May
and the snow mountain in January.
Milkweed pods in spring
and all season swing sets.
We'll go back to the days
we've always looked back on,
the days we've always missed.
Today, we will sing the song
of homecoming.
