The Water

Spencer is a student at 826CHI.

it wouldn’t stop raining.
the people evolved.
grew gills.
adaptation.
walking had been replaced with breaststrokes.
infants awkwardly doggy paddled to their mothers.
the dogs didn’t make it.
we scraped table scraps to sharks and stingrays.
in return, they protected us from intruders.
we all drove submarines.
however, we lived in houses similar to those that once existed on surface.
the capital of every country had been creatively named atlantis at one point or another.
we held our breaths to watch the sunset on a new horizon.
