You Shine Like Aphrodite
Michael A. Collazo, 826CHI

Dear Mom,
I love you Mom.
Thank you for everything you have given me.
You shine like Aphrodite (goddess of love and beauty).
Because you are loving and beautiful.
I wish I could count how many hugs you give me.
You are the number-one mom in the whole wide world.
I hope you love me too.
You are like a butterfly flying to the sky as an angel and bird.
In the evening you shine like the horizon.
You are like a ladybug that solves problems as a finance agent.

How to Eat Chocolate: A Brief Guide for Aliens
Charles Lyang, 826CHI

1. Land the UFO.
2. Say, “Earthlings we come for all your c-h-o-c-o-l-a-t-e...
Now give it to us or you will be incinerated!”
3. Steal all the chocolate from Jewel-Osco.
4. Rip open the wrapping.
5. Stick chocolate bars through each mouth you have.
6. Let chocolate bars melt in mouths and swallow.
If you are disturbed, feel free to incinerate earthlings.
7. If you like, you can conquer the Earth.
If you don’t, you can destroy Earth.

I Wish I Had a Pet Elephant
Deja Hill, 826 Valencia

it wouldn’t stop raining.
the people evolved.
grew gills.
walking had been replaced with breaststrokes.
infants awkwardly doggy paddled to their mothers.
the dogs didn’t make it.
we scraped table scraps to sharks and stingrays.
in return, they protected us from intruders.
we all drove submarines.
however, we lived in houses similar to those that once existed on the
the capital of every country had been creatively named atlantis at one
point or another.
we held our breaths to watch the sunset on a new horizon.
